二、履歷寫法範例

Cover Letter

   在國外或外商公司,除了履歷表之外,在最前面需要附上一封求職信,說明你是如何得知這個職缺,你的相關經歷及能力能帶給公司什麼,內容不需要像履歷表一樣贅述你所有的工作經歷,主要是說明你的條件和過去工作經驗,為何適合這份工作?能怎麼幫公司加分?一封好的cover letter能決定老闆是否要看你的履歷,所以一定要簡潔有力,有自信又不失禮貌。

    大部分打工度假walk-in找的工作不會要求cover letter,但若是連鎖的大品牌需上網登錄,用email投履歷時,cover letter就是必要的,直接寫在email裡面,履歷自傳等資料就當作附加檔案附上。一般郵寄的求職信順序,cover letter要放在最上頭,接著是履歷表(resume),最後才是自傳或其他相關資料,它的重要性可想而知,因此絕對不能有文法或拼字上的錯誤。

 

Cover letter分為三大段:

First Paragraph

Why you are writing/ Basic information about yourself

第一段簡單說明這封信的主旨,要應徵的職位為何?從哪裡得知這個訊息?

Middle Paragraph

What you have to offer/ What makes you a good fit for the employer

這一段是最重要的段落,要說明自己哪些能力跟經驗符合這份工作的需求,能帶給公司怎樣的加分作用。

Concluding Paragraph

How will you follow-up/ leave your contact

總結,感謝業主撥空閱讀,並提供連絡方式,最常以I’m looking forward to hearing from you soon.期待有好消息做為結尾。

   

一般而言,履歷表上的經歷多半是闡述過去工作的工作職責與內容,而cover letter不需重覆履歷上的內容,應著重在精神面與人格特質上,展現個人工作動機及企圖心。比如說責任感、電腦能力(computer skills)、良好的溝通技巧(communication skills)、團隊合作(a good team worker)、時間管理(time management)、抗壓性(work under pressure)、能同時處理多項任務(multitasking)等,依照這份職缺的job description需求去發展。因此,每應徵一份工作都需要修改cover letter的內容。

   

    Cover letter的長度以不超過一張A4為原則,字體用正式商業文件常用的Times New Roman/ CalibriArial清楚明瞭,大小1012為佳,左右邊界不宜過窄,約1.5吋使人看起來最舒適。

I’m interested in the position of sales representative you posted on Job bank. I am a working holiday visa holder from Taiwan who is looking for a seasonal job in Vancouver. With six years of relevant experience in customer service, I believe that my employment background is appropriate for this position. My CV is enclosed for your review.

 

I have excellent communication skills and an aptitude of customer service which are necessary to succeed in this position. I’ve been working as a receptionist in the clinic registration counter for three years which enabled me to come in contact with patients from all walks of life. And my past experience as a sales associate at ABC clothing store made it necessary for me to focus on providing quality customer service. I’m able to handle multiple tasks and I’m not afraid to work under pressure. In addition, I’m fluent in both English and Mandarin which I believe would make me an asset to your company.
